Is Bluehost Good For Blogging? – My Story
Yes, it is. But let’s hear my story first.
I started my first blog back in 2019. It was a free blog and so it has limited features, I found it later.
I couldn’t do any of these things.
- Optimizing for SEO.
- Monetizing my posts.
- Getting Adsense approval.
- Customizing my site.
And I decided to shut down my first blog.
You might think why didn’t I move it to web hosting? Great question.
I didn’t know about it at the time.
Then I researched for nearly two months and ended up creating a WordPress website with Bluehost.
Since then, I have loved my blog. I never thought about switching to a different web hosting.
I have easily –
- Customized my site the way I want.
- Optimized my posts and blog for SEO (many of them are ranking)
- Got Adsense approved (but currently with Ezoic)
- Monetized my blog by various methods.
So yes, Bluehost helped me achieve everything I wanted to do in my first blog.
Here is why and how I selected Bluehost.
8 Reasons Why To Choose Bluehost For Blogging
There are many reasons why I love Bluehost with WordPress and these are mentioned below.
When I was looking for good web hosting, my main concern was affordability.
I was new and wasn’t earning at all. I had some money saved for it. So, I was looking for affordable, beginner-friendly, and good web hosting.
Bluehost is affordable. It costs only $2.95 a month to host a blog on Bluehost.
So if you are tight on money then using Bluehost with WordPress is reasonable.
Excellent Customer Service
The second reason why I chose Bluehost is their customer service.
There were three ways to contact them.
- Chat and,
But I have seen them respond on social platforms too. (I once contacted them on Twitter)
Then I asked other bloggers who were using Bluehost if their customer support is good. They were happy.
The Bluehost support team helps every time.
If you are on my email list (if not, get in by clicking here, and get 15+ blog resources for free) then you would know how a plugin almost broke my site.
None of the links were working. I was not sure what to do then I contacted customer support.
They found the plugin, removed it, and fixed my site.
If I didn’t ask for their help I would have to look for a web developer to fix my site.
Didn’t I tell you this earlier?
When you are starting your first blog on Bluehost you get a domain for free for the first year.
This saved me $11 to $15 for a year.
Because many other web hostings don’t give free domain names and you will have to purchase them.
While signing up for Bluehost you can create your domain name for free.
That’s how Bluehost saved a little more money.
Bluehost is a WordPress-recommended web hosting. Meaning, it has a reputation and can be trusted.
I wasn’t ready to make another mistake of not choosing a good web hosting and wasting my savings.
I wanted a host that does what they promise. A web hosting that others also trust. Bluehost was just perfect for me when I started.
Optimized Load Time
Having a fast-loading site helps to keep your readers on your site. But it is also crucial to rank on Google.
Bluehost offers optimized load time that makes my site load in only –
- 1 to 2 seconds on desktop.
- 3 to 4 seconds on mobile.
And this is after I have enabled Ezoic ads on my blog.
(If you don’t know it yet, ads slow down your site, this was the reason why I disabled Google Adsense)
It also has free Cloudflare connection options that further help in optimizing site speed.
Tia Says has been online for 17 months now and it has never gone down.
Because Bluehost offers an uptime value of 99.99%. Meaning, if somehow your site goes down Bluehost will make sure it is restored immediately.
I have seen many bloggers complain on Twitter about their blog’s unresponsive behavior to their web host and they would not reply.
Free Domain Emails
I love Bluehost because it offers free domain emails. You get 5 free domain emails with the basic plan.
But first, what is a domain email?
See the difference –
The other way is to buy an email suite like G Suite that would have cost $20 to $25 every year.
Bluehost has partnered with cPanel Webmail for this. Once you sign up for Bluehost you can create custom domain emails from your dashboard.
Next, I love its affiliate program.
They pay $65 per sale. Plus, I love promoting Bluehost because I want others to try these features.
Once you start using Bluehost you can sign up to be an affiliate for them and then tell your audience about it.
You will be helping someone in choosing the right platform and getting paid for it.
Can it get any better? Yes, it can.
Here are some other reasons why to choose Bluehost.
- Free SSL certificate – helps in building trust with the audience.
- Easy to use dashboard.
- No hidden costs.
- 30 day money back guarantee.
- Automatic WordPress installation.
- 24*7 customer support – you can contact them anytime.
So, ready to start your blog? Follow these steps below and you will get your blog (or move from your current web hosting) on Bluehost in less than 10 minutes.
How To Start A Blog On Bluehost?
Bluehost is a great web host for beginners. Because starting a blog on Bluehost is super easy.
It has a beginner-friendly dashboard and a few months ago they added a very useful to-do list on the dashboard to keep a record of everything.
But still, I’ll walk you through the process.
How To Use Bluehost For Blogging? – The Exact Process
STEP 1- Click on this link to be taken to the Bluehost signup page.
This is the home page of Bluehost.
STEP 2- Click on “Get Started”.
Then “View Plans” on the next screen that will come.
STEP 3- You will see a screen like this. It has 4 plans –
- Basic – $2.95 per month.
- Plus – $5.45 per month.
- Choice Plus – $5.45 per month.
- Pro – $13.95 per month.
Now, which Bluehost plan is best for beginners? I’ll suggest you go with the basic plan.
It will cost you less.
So, click on that.
STEP 4- Next you will see a screen in which you are required to enter a domain name.
If you are migrating from your old host to Bluehost then type your domain name on “use a domain you own” and click “next”.
And if you are starting a new blog then create a domain and then click “next”.
Don’t have a domain? No problem, scroll a little down and click on the third option “I’ll create a domain name later”.
STEP 5- Now, you can sign up with Google or fill out the details.
STEP 6- Then select the package information.
You will get two options here.
- 36 month plan.
- 12 month plan.
You can select whichever you want. Choosing the 36-month plan is better though.
STEP 7- Now you will see package extras.
Honestly, I never needed them. I once got the Bluehost SEO tools to try. They were good but not required.
So, you can skip them if you want.
STEP 8- Then enter your payment details. Agree to their terms and click submit.
You just got yourself the Bluehost web hosting! Wasn’t it easy? I know.
