It is the biggest thing I struggled with and I’m sure most of the beginners too.

Because a new website is not known to anyone. But does that mean you leave it to Google to pick your site one day and then you start generating blog traffic?

If this is a way I’m sure no one is reading your blog for at least one year (it can be more!). And that too if you know the best SEO practices.

What I learned later (I should have earlier) is that after posting a blog post your blog promotion starts.

This post is a list of 13 easy ways to promote your blog.

Meaning, heavy promotion in the first few days then slow promotion. And you will see an increase in traffic.

Where To Promote Blog Posts?

To increase traffic you have to start promoting blog posts to places where your target audience is spending time.

This way, all you have to do is to show them your awesome posts and they’ll click.

And if you promote your new blog to places where your target audience is already present you are doing yourself a favor.

There are two ways of doing it.

  • Generate Free Traffic – through free promotion.
  • Gain Paid traffic – through paid promotion.

Why Paid Traffic Isn’t Good?

I don’t see any benefit of paying for promotions when you have a new blog unless you know what you are doing.

Because when you are a beginner you don’t know how to increase benefits and this often attracts negative traffic.

The group of people who are paid to click to show increased traffic. But they won’t drive sales.

And when you have incredible options to market your blog for free why waste money. Right?

But if you still want to give it a try you can try Social media ads.

Let’s introduce you to them.

Below are great ways to advertise blog posts. You can share your new posts as well as your old posts to boost traffic.

13 Super Awesome Ways To Promote Blog To Increase Traffic

Now I want you to follow these tips to get traffic to your blog.

1- Email List

It may be surprising to know but your biggest fans are indeed subscribers to your email list.

Therefore whenever you publish a new blog post they deserve to know.

I always send an email to my list just after publishing a new blog post.

But every time, the whole of your list is not going to open your email.

All I have to do is to send the same email the next day at a different time.

Social Media Marketing Blogs

It is no-brainer that social media is a super powerful weapon for beginner bloggers to display their content to a massive population. Because Google takes some time (6 to 7 months if you know what you are doing!) to rank your site for keywords.

Then social media for blog posts becomes a must. And it is the best because you can do all of this for free.

So if you were wondering where to promote my posts (or how to promote a new blog!) the answer is Social Media.

But the real question is how to promote your blog on social media?

See how.

One more thing, social media requires you to be present on the platform every minute. But that is not practically possible. Therefore we schedule posts to get shared later.

With each social media platform, I will tell you a nice scheduler to schedule your posts regularly.

2- Twitter

Twitter can be extremely helpful for bloggers. Because it has around 330 million monthly active users.

Therefore you must be taking advantage of this big number. I personally love Twitter as it helps me get 15 to 20% of my overall blog traffic.

It’s also very easy to use. All you have to do is to tweet your blog posts, either old or new, from time to time.

To be successful on Twitter you have to follow the rule of engagement. If you engage with other similar accounts they will engage back and hence twitter will spread your tweets more.

The engagement can be like on a post, comment, and Retweet. To grow your reach make sure to add relevant hashtags. No more than 2.

Find me on Twitter here.

SCHEDULER – The inbuilt twitter scheduler. (I use it personally!)

Once I publish a new blog post, I tweet it 3 to 4 times a day at different times to grow its reach.

3- Facebook

Facebook is the largest social media platform for promoting blog posts. It has around 2.45 billion monthly active visitors.

There used to be a time when all the bloggers, influencers, and other online businesses were promoting their work on Facebook and they were getting good results also.

But then a piece of news came that Facebook started diminishing its reach. So many bloggers gave up on Facebook.

But if you want to consider promoting blog posts on Facebook it is still worth it.

Facebook does not allow profiles to share links therefore you will need a Facebook page to share your blog posts.

SCHEDULER – The Facebook Creator Studio. (Also free!)

4- Pinterest

Pinterest is not like other social media platforms that many people may think it is. It is a search engine. Meaning if you share your pins on Pinterest these are ranked and therefore drive traffic for a long time.

Pinterest is big. People come to Pinterest to buy stuff. So it is a great place to sell your products, grow your blog traffic, build email lists, and more.

It is all about pins. Pins are images. To create pin images you can use Canva.

Hashtags don’t work here.

5- LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a platform where professionals spend their time. It has 260 million active monthly users.

LinkedIn, therefore, is not like any other social media platform. It is about professionals therefore you must behave like a professional.

The fastest way to grow on LinkedIn is to connect with similar accounts, engage with their posts, and share quality content consistently.

Hashtags also work on LinkedIn so be smart while posting on LinkedIn to add a few popular hashtags in your niche.

SCHEDULER – The Twittimer Scheduler allows you to schedule posts for free.

6- Instagram

Instagram is the best social media platform for bloggers to promote brands.

The monthly active users on Instagram are 400 million.

It is a visual-based platform so be sure to create attractive visuals to upload on your feed. To create visuals for free you can use this awesome tool Canva.

Promoting blog posts on Instagram will require you to have a business account. You can create a free account easily.

You can’t directly add a link to your posts therefore, to promote blog posts on Instagram you have to add a link that leads to links to your blog posts.

A free tool to help you create such a link is lnk.bio

Hashtags can magically help you grow your reach. Therefore use 5 to 7 hashtags on your posts.

SCHEDULER – Facebook Creator Studio lets you connect to Instagram too. However, Panoly is also a good option.

Best Social Media To Promote Blog

To make social media work for you, you have to work with it. Some of the best practices that you can follow are.

  • Find out what are the most popular blog posts on the social media that you are using and create content on those topics.

Therefore the best social media is the one that works for you.

7- Advertise Your Website On Blogs

This method is also great for new bloggers. To promote blogs on already established blogs.

How does this work? The blogger of an already established blog will promote your blog posts on his blog and social media platforms regularly and their target audience or followers will come to your blog.

To get started you can reach out to bloggers in your niche to see if they offer any plan for it.

8- Guest Blogging

Guest blogging is a great way to share your content with a whole different audience. This is also the best way to build quality links.

9- Quora

Quora is the biggest question and answer platform. The idea is to ask questions and to give answers.

It is great for bloggers to leave a link on Quora while answering a question. However, the link will be no-follow but it is still very helpful.

To get started, create a profile on quora and search any keyword and answer some questions. Don’t stuff your answer with links, try to be logical and helpful.

REDDIT – is another popular site to share blog posts. To learn how to promote your blog on Reddit check out this post.

Now encourage your followers to share your pins on their accounts.

Doing this will help you get more shares and hence more views.

11- Click To Tweets

Click to tweets will add a small box that will include some text. Now whenever a reader clicks on it it will be automatically shared on Twitter.

Ain’t this awesome? A small trick to get you a lot of views.

To do this you can install a free click to tweet plugin.

12- Facebook Groups
